Microdermabrasion

Mechanical exfoliation for a smoother, more even skin surface.

Duration

30-40 minutes

Recovery

No downtime

Results

Immediate, cumulative over multiple sessions

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that uses fine crystals or a diamond tip to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells. It promotes cell renewal and enhances product absorption, leaving your skin visibly smoother and more luminous.

The treatment

How does it work?

Microdermabrasion uses a specialized handpiece to deliver a stream of fine crystal particles or a diamond-tipped wand across the skin's surface. This controlled abrasion gently removes the stratum corneum — the very top layer of dead skin cells — while a vacuum mechanism simultaneously suctions away the loosened cells and debris. The process is precise and consistent, ensuring an even exfoliation across the entire treatment area.

By removing this outer layer, microdermabrasion triggers the skin's natural repair response. The body accelerates cell turnover, bringing fresh, healthy cells to the surface more quickly. Additionally, the mild trauma stimulates increased blood flow to the treated area, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to support skin renewal.

One of the greatest advantages of microdermabrasion is its versatility. The treatment intensity can be adjusted by varying the crystal flow, vacuum pressure, and number of passes over each area. This makes it possible to address different skin concerns in a single session and to tailor the treatment precisely to your skin's tolerance and needs.

Candidates

Who is it for?

Microdermabrasion is perfect for patients who want a gentle yet effective skin-resurfacing treatment with no recovery time. It works particularly well for those with dull skin, rough texture, enlarged pores, minor sun damage, or early fine lines who prefer a physical exfoliation over chemical approaches. It is an excellent option for patients who are new to professional skin treatments and want to start with something gentle, as well as for those who want a regular maintenance treatment between more intensive procedures. Microdermabrasion is suitable for most skin types, though it may not be recommended for active acne, rosacea, or very sensitive skin conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Most patients describe the sensation as a gentle scratching or suction feeling on the skin — similar to a cat's tongue licking your face. It is not painful. Some areas may feel slightly more sensitive than others, but overall the treatment is very comfortable and does not require any numbing.

You will notice smoother, brighter skin immediately after your first session. However, for more significant improvements in texture, pigmentation, and fine lines, a series of 4 to 6 sessions spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart is recommended. Cumulative results are progressively more impressive.

Microdermabrasion uses physical exfoliation (crystals or diamond tip) while chemical peels use acid solutions. Microdermabrasion is generally gentler with no peeling afterward, making it ideal for quick skin refreshes. Chemical peels can reach deeper layers and are better suited for pigmentation or more advanced skin concerns.
